Please check out this fascinating Venable blog post that examines cases where the U.S. Court of Federal Claims has “during the pendency of the protest, the relevant agency elected to award a bridge contract to the non-incumbent, protested awardee, rather than the incumbent plaintiff contractor.” Yes, that’s right, a bridge to the incoming contractor over extending the current contractor’s performance.

Well worth a read about a nervy decision by government buyers.
